And while we make a pretense of doing grown-up things like baking...

And laundry...

Don't let it fool you. We're really just goofing around as hard as we can.

Getting to have James at home every day? Is the best thing in the world. Hurrah for telecommuting! But sometimes it's nice to spend a day with my girl, just the two of us. It will mean staying up late tonight to get my own work done and missing Project Runway and eating a hurried dinner at my desk as I upload manuscripts.
But it is TOTALLY worth it.

Pat loved the sound of "a day to spend." It sounded so gloriously lavish to "spend" a whole day, letting its moments slip one by one through your fingers like beads of gold.
-L.M. Montgomery, Pat of Silver Bush
This is just adorable!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice that you guys can be together, and I love telecommuting for the same reason. And hey, there is nothing wrong with staying in your pj's all day and baking! I love these photos of the baby. She is really gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think she is pretty beautiful but I thought I miiiiight be biased.
DeleteI didn't know you WAH, too, Z. What do you do?
Aw how cute! What fun! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you do?
I want to work from home :)
I'm a copyeditor for an engineering firm. I edit a lot of articles about concrete and series of equations that are 2 or 3 pages long!
DeleteWAH rules, especially when you have a baby Baby Whimsy's age. What do you do now? You can find a WAH position out there for most jobs, if you just look hard enough. Or, if you have a cool boss, you can negotiate some kind of schedule where you stay home x days a week.
Oh how cool! Well except for the equations part.
DeleteI use to be an admin assistant. Now I'm a SAHM. I feel very blessed that Mr. Whimsy can afford to keep me home, but sometimes I miss having a little paycheck of my own, ya know? :) Since I'm new to our current city, I'm not quite sure where to begin. I figure when Baby Whimsy gets a little older I'll think of something.
:)
Craigslist or Flex Jobs! When you're ready to look.
DeleteFlex Jobs? Right on! I hadn't heard of that one. Thank you :)
DeleteWas your WAH job something you had before you got pregnant, negotiated, or found afterwards? :)
DeleteI worked at home through law school, and continued after I graduated and was job searching for something in my field. Once I had Lulu, I decided to keep on, so that I could be home with her. It's not as lucrative as a legal career (obviously) and it's meant cutting back in some areas, but it's worth it to be able to be home with her. And the work is interesting, so that's a bonus, too. :)
DeleteRight on. I'm always fascinated by folks that make staying home work for them. And I feel ya, it's definitely worth it.
DeleteI look forward to checking it out later on and can't thank you enough for your tips.
:)
Based on Lu's face, she had a marvelous time! And you too! Love it … keep doing these kinds of days. She will cherish them!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenners. I keep reminding myself that it's important to take time out sometimes and just play and be together...not to let myself get too caught up in the other things. I hope I can keep it up. :)
